Meet the Board

My name is Luke de Laat, and this year I am the chairman of Asset | Econometrics. I was born and raised in Tilburg, and in 2021, I started studying to become a mathematics teacher. After one and a half years, I decided to quit, and in 2023 I began my bachelor’s in Econometrics and Operations Research at Tilburg University. After just half a year, I became active at Astrics and have already had the opportunity to organize several fun activities. As chairman, I am responsible for maintaining an overview of the association, ensuring that everything runs smoothly as planned. I am also part of the board of LOES (National Organization of Econometrics Study Associations), which is responsible for organizing the National Econometrics Day. In addition, I am the chairman of the Asset General Board, where I represent Astrics and make sure that the cooperation between the departments runs well. As chairman of the Asset General Board, I am also a member of the TiGeAk (Tilburg Joint Activities) board, where I represent Asset and also serve as treasurer. In my free time, I play football, regularly go squash with friends, hang out, and enjoy a few beers with them. I’m looking forward to seeing you at the rooms or at one of our events!

Hello everyone! My name is Hedser van der Wel, and I am the candidate Vice-Chairman. I grew up in Middelburg, but moved to Tilburg 3 and a half years ago. Last year, I started the Master’s program in Business Analytics and Operations Research. I have been a loyal member of Asset | Econometrics for three years, two of which I served as Editor-in-Chief of the Nekst. Additionally, I have been the treasurer of both the Drink & Activities and Europe Trip committees, as well as the secretary of the Olden Goaldies committee.
The fun activities and great connections with our members have made me truly enjoy my time within the association over the past few years. This year, I am excited to get to know even more members and to keep building that great atmosphere together!

Hi! My name is Anouk Wets, and I am 22 years old. I grew up in Huizen, which is ‘above the river’, but I have been living in Tilburg for three years now and I am really enjoying the ‘Brabantse gezelligheid’! After these three years, I have now finished my bachelor’s in econometrics and will start my BAOR master’s after my board year at Asset | Econometrics. I became active in my first year, and have since joined multiple fun committees, which range from Freshmen Night and Active Members Day to Yearbook and PR. I always liked combining a creative committee with one focused on organizing an event. Now I get to coordinate the Active Members Weekend, the Yearbook, KOALA, and Nekst committee, something I am really excited about, as it feels like the perfect mix. This year, I am looking forward to becoming even more involved with association, contributing as much as I can, and learning a lot along the way. Outside of Asset | Econometrics, I love planning fun day trips with friends or simply spending cozy evenings cooking together, playing games, or doing something creative.

Hello everyone, my name is Gijs. I am 23 years old. Originally, I am from Den Bosch, but since three years I have been living in Tilburg in one of the biggest student houses in Tilburg with 30 roommates. I started my studies in 2020 and next to my studies in Econometrics, I have also been pursuing a degree in Bestuurskunde. I am planning to finish my master's BAOR and my bachelor's Bestuurskunde next year. Most of you had probably not seen me last year, as I only participated in the IBT and Board Information Session. I have been active at Astrics since 2021 in the EfS, Education, ECT and Nekst committees, but last year I was not active in a committee. Besides this, I am also a member of Heerendispuut Vatos. In my free time, I enjoy playing tennis.

Hii everyone, my name is Sanne van Duren, I am 21 years old and currently the External Affairs Officer of Asset | Econometrics for this academic year. Originally, I am from a village called Best, which is close to Eindhoven. I have been playing hockey in Best for as long as I can remember, and I still really enjoy playing every Sunday. Besides hockey, I like to go for a run and spend time with my friends and family whenever I have some free time. With all the responsibilities that come with this board year, I do my best to maintain a good balance between everything.

I recently finished my Bachelor in Ecometrics, and after this amazing year I will start my Master in Quantitative Finance and Actuarial Science. During TOP week I became known with Asset | Econometrics, and after one year attending all kinds of great activities I started with the Freshmen committee. In my second active year I joined the Yearbook and (Active) Members Day committees. I really enjoyed being part of these committees and working with different people from various study years, this inspired me to do a board year at Asset | Econometrics.

Hi everyone, my name is Maik, and I am candidate External Affairs Officer of Asset | Econometrics. I was born and raised in the beautiful village of Etten-Leur, near Breda. Two and a half years ago, I moved to Tilburg and became more and more involved in the association.When I am not in the Library or at the rooms, I enjoy having a drink, going for a run, or going on another trip. I am looking forward to continuing my student life as a board member next year and to seeing you all at the rooms!
