Xomnia’s 5th datathon is in collaboration with the World Bank, Ahold Delhaize and Wageningen University & Research! During a datathon a total of 10 teams of different study associations throughout the Netherlands will come together to work with large amounts of 
data to create a data-driven solution and offer insight into food loss and food waste along the food value chain. This event offers you the perfect opportunity to bring your knowledge into practice and fight a global social problem, and the results will be used for future projects of
the World Bank. This means there’s big a possibility that you will be part of the solution to food waste and food loss!

We offer the attending students a crash course in Wim Hof’s cool exercises… Remon will give you the opportunity to attend his Mindcoolness training! During the datathon there will be a lot of domain experts at your disposal as well, from the logistic supply chain to satellite
images, and from text mining to motivational speaking. So make sure you gain the advantage by talking with these people as well.

Finally there are also prizes to win for the top 3 teams:
1 st prize: €1500,-
2 nd prize: €750,-
3 rd prize: €500,-

For the teams that are looking to get an edge on their competition, we are hosting a walk-in workshop that is led by Chris to teach you how to work with satellite data on the GBDX platform, hosted by digitalglobe. In addition, there is a lot of open data available about food loss and waste. Have a look at what’s out there and start working out ideas. Here are some places you could start:

Composing a team:
